Head Strong: Meehan, Katz and 'the bug' - Inquirer Currents 7/13 - Smerconish

Submitted by Ben Burrows on July 13, 2008 - 9:23pm.

To the editor:

Michael Smerconish's dedication (Head Strong, 7/13) to the cause of Sam
Katz -- in the face of Katz's fraud settlement -- seems so much like the
mindless politics Smerconish so often accuses liberals (incorrectly) of
practicing. Given a choice between a Democratic crook and a Republican
crook, Philadelphians voted with the party which voted for urban
interests, and against the party which steals their parking authority,
fails to fully fund urban schools, and supports community institutions
open to all. The discovery of a bug in Street's office helped reinforce
the impression that Republicans would ignore ethics to achieve power.
